Jeremy and I had lunch with my sister yesterday... it was so good to see her. She brought me our moms wedding dress, when we got home last night, I had to take it out and try it on. I had not seen it since I was a little girl playing dress up. It fits perfect.... and by perfect I mean, the arms are a tad tight, but otherwise perfect... as in, it doesn't even need hemming. Just a good dry clean, and it will be awesome.... even though it's totally not my style.
Would you scrap the dress you bought and love to wear you're moms?
Remember, I am changing anyway for the reception....

It is pretty special to be able to wear your mom's dress. How great that it fits so well!!!
It is your wedding though. You need to wear what you feel the most beautiful in. If your mom's dress isn't your style, perhaps the other dress is better. If it looks great, however, go for it!!! What a special touch to add to such a special day. Maybe your sister could take a look at both dresses on you, and perhaps even take pictures. Then you could look at them and think about it.
Not much of a help and I hate to say this, but it is really all up to you!!!!
Keep us posted!
Maybe you could have pictures taken with your mom's dress and have some up at the wedding or in your home as a special way of remembering your mum.
I saw a wedding where the bride displayed her family’s old wedding gowns and the groom's family's old wedding gowns (I think she had a total of three dresses on display) on forms inside the reception. It looked really cool in the pictures. I tried to find the link, but I can’t remember where I saw it....
I love sentimental touches, but I feel liek the wedding dress is soemthign you should only use of your moms if you absolutely love it!
Do you love the dress? then wear it!
I don't think I would-- unless I could make some adjustments. My mom and dad were married in the early 70's... haha. Not my style!
I would definately have pictures taken in it....other than that if you don't LOVE THE DRESS wear what you want. If you really want to honor your mother you could change into her dress for your grand entrance wear it a little while, maybe even wear it to cut the cake then change into your cute short dress for the dancing and such.
Just my 2 cents
