Invitation Drama

I thought I had this all worked out..... was ahead of the game.... then I went to upload them and order yesterday morning. Did that, printed out what they would look like.... yikes! did't look to swift, so I changed the picture on one, and unbolded some text (before going back to it bolded), got it looking good enough (this was 4 hours later!) and ordered. $90 worth of postcards, ordered. Ten mins later.... an email arrived in my inbox.... "Order on hold". Damn.

I've been emailing back and forth with one of their associates, sending them my files, so that they could tweak them and get them to look better.

I just hope they come out alright, and they actually send me a proof before they print!

The lady said that she sent the files to the graphic design department, they would fix them and then go to print. I was like um ok... I want to proof it first!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll see what happens. Ugh.

Anti-My-Handwriting

So I made the executive decision today that I WILL NOT be hand addressing my envelopes.... call me tacky, call me etiquette-less...... whatever, I don't care!

With much trial and error I finally got my printer and computer on the same page as my brain.... brown, centered text in a pretty font :-)

Weekend Recap....

OK here we go.... lots of goodies to share.....

Friday-
1. Went to Michaels, bought stamp ink in copper and chocolate brown, and another grapevine wreath.
2. Went to IKEA to buy the rest of the sheets.
3. Tested out stamp ink on our orange envelopes. We decided on the brown, the others were hard to read.
4. Stamped our return address on 80 envelopes, and put postage on them.

Saturday-
Got up early and drove to Asheville to experience the J Crew Sidewalk Sale. I bought:
A. White pants for me ($10)
B. Khaki pants for me ($10)
C. Navy blue pants for me ($10)
D. Polka dot bikini for me ($6!) Still on sale online for $34 for each piece!
E. Khaki pants for Jeremy ($10)
F. Khaki pants for Jeremy ($10)

AND.....

to make myself feel better about the whole dress issue... I still wanted a backup dress in case my moms dress is a disaster. So... I popped in the clearance store- I picked up the 3 wedding dresses that were in my size- 2 strapless and another one.... the first 2 were ok..... the third fit PERFECT! It was only $40, so I had to have it!!!!! It's def. not something that I would have normally picked out for myself- but at $40..... I'll find somewhere to wear it, or I'll sell it, if I don't use it for the wedding.

Is it my perfect dress? No.
Is it perfectly suitable? Yes.

It's the goddess dress on J Crew's site, if you want to see a picture of it :-)

now for pics-
Testing out the different inks- Gold at the top, Copper in the middle, Chocolate Brown last

Rubber Stamps

I knew a while back I didn't want to write our return address over and over and over and over on our invitations. Yesterday I discovered thepaperwink.com !! I ordered this great stamp, here's the proof they sent me to approve!

Only $18!!

I like it because we can use it before and after we get married.

And yes, I realize I posted my address online....ooooohhhhh now someone's gonna come get me.... bleh! The reality is, I own the house, and it's public information anyway, so whatev.

Going Postal.....

So, I tried not to get caught up in invitations, envelopes and mostly, stamps! Our invites are only costing us $1.65 each (not the cheapest, but NOT letterpress prices either). When I found out that the post office was offering "forever" stamps (stamps that you can use forever, even when the price goes up) I was thrilled! Saving pennies here and there is totally my thing. So before May 11, when postage went up, I trekked to the local post office and bought 100 "forever" stamps. They have the liberty bell on them. Not heinous, but not pretty-wedding-ish either.

Today I saw these....

I'm in love. But should I buy them, and scrap my "saving pennies" bit??

I mean we're only talking about $2 more to have the king and queen of hearts.....

That's it. I'm buying them.

:-) Did I mention they will go lovely with my orange envelopes!?

More Postcards!

The "Thank You" postcards I will use for anything pre-wedding.... I will probably use them down the road for other things..... I am ordering ones with a picture from the wedding, for all wedding thank-yous (Side Note: I was NOT impressed with the color quality of these.... you can't really tell from this pic, but the image has a really strong red tint to it.... I will be complaining!)

Invite Postcards!

I took a chance and ordered some "real" postcards from printsmadeeasy.com. They came last week, and I LOVE them! They look way better than I imagined.

I ordered them with a blank spot at the top to use my postcard stamp. I tried it out this morning. The paper is slick and the ink of the stamp doesn't like it much. :-( But, I will use them anyway. I don't want to waste the $36 I spent on them.

Here's some pics!

Invites?

I finally got my "postcard" stamp so I messed around with our invitations. The paper they are printed on is really crappy, thin cardstock, so I will have to get some nicer stuff..... If you have ideas to get the cool glossy pic on one side, and still be able to print on the other... let me know!!

Stamp

So that stamp I ordered from Staples.... still not here.... So today when a co-worker asked me if I needed anything from Staples I said no, but I'll go. So we went and it dawned on me I still had not received that pesky stamp! I asked the girl about it.... she said that the warehouse was still out of the piece I needed, but she could probably transfer the order to Mooresville and they could have it for me today, maybe tomorrow! So hopefully, I will get to start on my invitations soon!!! :-)

Rubber Stamp

I trecked over to Staples and am having them make the stamp I found on Martha's website! :-) This is what it will look like....

Vintage Postcards

I've been looking for a company online that can replicate vintage postcards... I've had no luck. Well, while blog hopping this morning, I found a link to this!!! I can't wait to try it!!!

SIDE NOTE: I want to make vintage postcards for our invites. I'll enclose 4 vintage postcards with all our wedding info on the back sides. I want to use all the old pictures from the 1920's of our venue! :-)

Invites?

I stopped by Michaels last night on my way home and picked up some different ribbons.... of all the different combinations I did, this was mine and Jeremy's favorite....

I looked at the scrapbook paper too, but they didn't have anything suitable.

Invitations

Alright, I am going to attempt to copy these (in my colors)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Here's the sample stuff I got in the mail! I LOVE the envelope! I've ordered 2 other metalic oranges to see if I like them better than the flat orange pictured here! I will be trimming down the orange and white so that it looks more like the one I am trying to copy, exposing more of the brown, like the green in the other one.

Etsy Invitation Love

I've recently become more and more interested in my invites.... they were something that I hadn't give tons of thought to, till now.... Here's a few from Etsy that I LOVE.... the last one is my favorite!! It's not exactly the right colors, but pretty darn close!

Invite issues

So, I have a couple of "friends" from high school, who I was really close to for several years (not the past few) I recently found out they have been taking bets to see if they will get an invite!! One of them even asked one of my bridesmaids that if he doesn't get an invite, if she will take him as her date!!!!!! UGH!!!! How rude can you be!
